The Team was formed in 1977 after the amalgamation of two Independent parachute teams. 29 Commando Regiment Parachute Team "The Buccaneers" and 7 Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery’s’ Team "The Black Knights".
The newly formed team were relocated to Woolwich where they remained until unforeseen circumstances enforced the closure of the team in 1995. Despite this the team remained registered with the British Parachuting Association and continued on a part time basis.
The team re-formed and adopted their full time display role in 1998. Since then they have completed numerous displays around the country and abroad using, their parachuting skills to recruit for both the Royal Artillery and also their other role KAPE (Keeping the Army in the Public Eye). In 2001, the team readopted their historic name "The Black Knights".
